The Crystal Quest 2 Cu Ft Stainless Steel Softener offers robust whole house filtration with automated cleaning. If you are searching for crystal quest 2 cu ft stainless alternatives, you might need a different grain capacity, size, or brand. This original unit excels at tannin removal and features a durable stainless steel construction. Its automatic backwashing system maintains performance with minimal effort. However, its 300-pound weight and 2 cubic feet capacity may not suit every home. Some buyers prefer a lighter unit or a different control type. Others may need more or less capacity for their water hardness levels.
We selected these alternatives because their specifications overlap with the original. The list includes options with varying grain capacities, from 34,000 to 72,000 grains. You can find units in different colors, including black, white, and gray. Some models offer digital metered controls, while others use automatic backwashing. The selection covers small households with moderate hardness needs and large homes requiring high capacity. Each pick addresses specific requirements like space constraints or the need for reverse osmosis integration. This approach ensures you find a system that matches your exact water treatment needs.
How Each Alternative Compares
Aquasure Harmony 72,000 Grain Bundle
The Aquasure Harmony 72,000 Grain Bundle replaces the Crystal Quest’s 2.0 cubic feet of media with a 72,000-grain capacity. This system uses a digital metered control valve instead of the Crystal Quest’s automatic backwashing microprocessor. It stands 60 inches tall and weighs significantly less at an unspecified weight compared to the 300-pound stainless steel unit. The Aquasure is black and designed for large homes with six or more bathrooms. You get higher capacity and precise metering, but you lose the tannin-specific filtration and the corrosion-resistant stainless steel tank found in the original.
Kenmore 420 Portable Softener
The Kenmore 420 Portable Softener is a compact alternative to the heavy Crystal Quest unit. It offers a 40,000-grain capacity, which is lower than the Crystal Quest’s 2.0 cubic feet. The Kenmore is portable and weighs 102 pounds, making it much lighter than the 300-pound stainless steel original. It stands 48 inches tall and is gray in color. This model suits small households with moderate hardness levels. You trade the Crystal Quest’s automated cleaning and tannin removal for a simpler, lighter system that prioritizes salt savings and basic iron reduction over high-capacity whole house filtration.
Aquasure 72k Grain Bundle w/ 75 GPD RO
The Aquasure 72k Grain Bundle with RO adds a 75 GPD reverse osmosis system to the standard 72,000-grain softening capacity. Unlike the Crystal Quest’s integrated 2.0 cubic feet filtration, this bundle separates softening and drinking water treatment. The tank is 56 inches tall and weighs an unspecified amount, differing from the 300-pound stainless steel original. It is designed for large homes needing both softening and purified drinking water. You gain dedicated RO filtration and high softening capacity, but you sacrifice the Crystal Quest’s tannin removal capabilities and its durable stainless steel construction.
Aquasure Harmony Lite 34k Grain White Softener
The Aquasure Harmony Lite 34k Grain White Softener is a smaller, white alternative to the Crystal Quest’s stainless steel unit. It offers a 34,000-grain capacity, which is lower than the Crystal Quest’s 2.0 cubic feet. The Lite model is 43 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds, making it much lighter than the 300-pound original. It includes pre-filtration for sediment. This unit suits small households with one to three bathrooms. You get a compact, white design and lower weight, but you give up the higher capacity, tannin removal, and automatic backwashing features of the Crystal Quest.
EcoPure Medium Whole House Softener
The EcoPure Medium Whole House Softener is a compact, dark gray unit that differs significantly from the Crystal Quest’s 2.0 cubic feet stainless steel design. It measures 42.8 inches tall and 20.6 inches long, offering a space-saving profile compared to the larger original. The EcoPure prioritizes smart regeneration and efficient softening for medium households. It lacks the specific tannin filtration media and the heavy-duty stainless steel tank of the Crystal Quest. You gain a smaller footprint and modern controls, but you lose the high capacity and corrosion-resistant construction of the original stainless steel model.
Aquasure Harmony 48k Grain Softener
The Aquasure Harmony 48,000 Grain Softener provides a 48,000-grain capacity, which is less than the Crystal Quest’s 2.0 cubic feet. It features a digital metered control valve, similar in function but distinct from the Crystal Quest’s automatic backwashing system. The unit is black, 62 inches tall, and weighs 120 pounds, making it lighter than the 300-pound stainless steel original. It is designed for medium households needing reliable metered softening. You get a mid-range capacity and digital controls, but you sacrifice the Crystal Quest’s tannin removal, sediment pre-filtration, and durable stainless steel tank.
